NIGHT LIGHTS!!**

Hannah, administrative assistant of the little organization in the industrial hub of the big city, found herself immersed in the responsibility of two people with the transfer of her colleague. She quickly adjusted to the immense pressure of working for two, an adjustment she managed effectively until today. She sensed she was threading at a tipping point and the files and receipts that came to her desk by 2pm put the final weight for the collapse. In the typical dutiful manner she was accustomed to, she squeezed the residual strength she had and swung into swift action, ensuring the tasks and her entries were in order. By the time she lifted her head from the computer, she also realized she had said goodbyes to everyone in the office and the hour hand of the clock had just hit 8pm and she wasn’t done. She quickly packed up her things, shut down the PC and ran down the staircase as she had a long way to get home.
On getting to the bus stop, there was a large press for the available buses. It was rowdy and noisy but, Hannah was able to scale the press to get a seat in the bus and the onward commute home began.  As the bus maneuvered the spasmodic traffic and through the distance, she found herself lost in thoughts only to be jolted back by the husky voice of the conductor calling the name of her bus stop. She heaved a sigh of relief as she was closer home. Hannah alighted the bus, and started to walk the distance home being vigilant of coming vehicles and reckless bike riders. Their horns and headlight provided light and direction for her until they sped off, it wasn’t easy moving along the uneven path in the dark, but she kept moving. Then another car came from behind, which she tried to keep up in its light till it turned in its own direction and she was alone again. She knew her destination so she kept her pace, looking carefully at who was approaching and where she was threading, eventually she made it home without a loss.
In the same vein, life could be like Hannah’s journey home, so much noise, too many instructions from the know- how’s and the know- not’s, too many people, so many directions e.t.c  walking with the light of others will take you a distance but not the whole length.  Hence you have to depend on the light or map within you to get you through the whole journey. Along the distance to achieving our goals or dreams, many times a lot of us get carried away in the lights/ instructions of others that we start treading their path, only to find ourselves struggling. In other words there is a light within to help you achieve that unique dream, but like the light switch you turn it on or like a map you have to open it up to know your direction. The year 2012 is rolling so fast, and we may be discouraged when we realize we missed the route to our goal, having started well, but I urge you to take out the map and open it up, you should be able to trace or retrace your step as long as you know your Destination/ GOAL.
